NCBI's Photography Exhibition

To mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3rd December 2008, NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) has launched an online photography exhibition, celebrating the achievements of those at its Training and Day Activity Centres.

NCBI's Training Centre in Drumcondra provides courses in independent living skills for those who are blind or vision impaired, offering students the chance to build confidence, whilst gaining new skills and independence. A wide range of modules are offered, including daily living and kitchen skills, personal development, computer training, braille and mobility training, in addition to recreational activities.

The Iona Centre is NCBI's Dublin-based day activity centre, which offers a wide range of classes and activities to adults who are blind or vision impaired. The centre boasts a fully equipped gym and computer suite, in addition to a range of multi-purpose activity rooms. Classes on offer at the Iona Centre include; pilates, yoga, crafts, music, tin whistle, card making, quiz group and pottery.

All of the students and participants featured in this exhibition are blind or vision impaired.
