Reader (part-time)
1 year fixed term contract
NCBI seeks to recruit an experienced reader who will be responsible for the reading of audio commercial and non-commercial titles for the NCBI Library and Media Centre, Dublin.
Job description
- Read print material for the Library and Media Centre.
- Agree a production schedule with the librarian and sound engineer for audio titles.
- Work with the sound engineer on the production of commercial titles.
- Assist in the production of audio copies for commercial audio recordings.
- Edit their own audio recordings on computer for non-commercial titles.
Requirements for the post
- A third level qualification in English literature, drama or the arts is essential.
- The successful candidate will have at least six months experience of working in a studio.
To carry out the duties effectively, the successful candidate should have;
- Good communication skills and clear pronunciation
- Knowledge of working with audio production systems
- The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Good organisation skills
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills
Hours
The candidate will work 15 hours per week.
Interviews
The candidates will be asked to record a short audio piece in the NCBI studio as part of the interview process.
Salary
Pro rata to €27,248 per annum (€11,678 for a 15 hour week)
